Developmental Research School
Client: Florida A&M University
Responsible for this 116,434 square foot educational and educator training institution that was constructed on this historical campus. New state-of-the-art technological systems and interior/exterior finishes built to tilt-wall specifications helped to complete this K-12, six-building complex that houses elementary, middle and high school classroom buildings, an administration building, a cafeteria/auditorium with full commercial kitchen, a media center and a gymnasium. MEP’s include fire and HVAC systems in addition to site/utility development, masonry and furnishings for the compound. Work was completed on an occupied campus with an accelerated schedule.
The complex includes energy efficient indirect lighting, life safety technology and smart boards in each classroom. A wireless network system, installed campus wide, also connects to the FAMU campus police. And, the school now boasts a TV production studio.
Services provided included pre-construction, value engineering, site work, vertical construction and commissioning services for the campus. Saved the owner more than $1.5 million through value engineering.
Received an Associated Builders and Contractors Eagle Award for this project.
Walt Disney World Sports Complex
Client: University of Central Florida
Associate Construction Manager for the construction of major league baseball stadium, field house, maintenance facility, sports field, baseball practice fields, softball fields, little league fields, running track, tennis stadium and pavilion, softball tower and parking facilities.
Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center
Client: Walt Disney Imagineering
This 1,200,000 S.F. Southwestern/ Mexican-themed resort project was constructed on a 142-acre site and included 12 lodge buildings with 1921 rooms. It also consisted of a 250,000 S.F. convention center with a health club, two laundry buildings, a Pargo building, bus pavilion, pool buildings and various other site buildings.
Orange County Covention Center
Client: Orange County Board of County Commissioners, Inc.
The new convention center doubles the size of the existing facility, making Orlando one of the top convention destinations in the world. Adding over 1 million s.f. of exhibition space, the new facility is one of only two in the nation capable of handling the largest annual conventions of over 60,000 delegates. The two facilities are linked by a Gateway Connector, an elevated pedestrian walkway, which enables pedestrians to safely cross between the two convention facilities.
Academic Villages (Joint Venture)
Client: University of Central Florida
Partnered to provide Florida’s largest student housing project that consisted of 1642 beds. The project was constructed in two phases. The villages include: 14 residential earth-toned buildings, with fountains and landscaped courtyards that blend in seamlessly with the area’s ample green spaces. The community is comprised of both residence hall and apartment style buildings, which all share the same amenities, including a classroom, community center, and kitchen, which is available for student use. Every room has custodial staff service once a week, air conditioning controlled in the room, cable TV, Ethernet access, and local phone service.
Client: Universal Studios Islands of Adventure
The first of its kind 3-D animated ride included construction of high technology systems for both visual and sound effects. Housed inside a 50,000 s.f. building the Spiderman Ride incorporates 3-D animation with a gyrating, undulating and pulsating computer-controlled vehicle that transports riders through a continuum of special effects.
Continuing Services Contract
Client: Lockheed-Martin/ SverdrupContract
Completed job order contracts for over 100 task orders within a two year period for the Sand Lake Plant. Specifically, furnished all labor, material and equipment to complete these task orders. These task orders included the following functions: determination of functional requirements, definition of quality, cost and schedule parameters, scooping of tasks and clustering of task orders into cost effective work authorizations, development of CPM schedules and procurement plans, analysis and conditioning of bids, processing for owner approvals, provision of early GMP, management of architectural and engineering design and construction management.
Orlando International Airport Parking Garage
Client: Greater Orlando Aviation Authority
Design-build parking garage extension including a five-level parking facility addition which added 4, 651 parking spaces to the existing garages and required approximately: 63,700 cubic yards of concrete, 351 miles of post-tensioning cable and 4, 400 tons of steel
Mount Primrose Service Center
Client: City of Orlando
Provided Construction Management services for this comprehensive interior and exterior renovation project. The one-story, 96,000 square foot facility served as former home to the U.S. Naval Training Academy. Offices were restructured for Orlando’s Police and Fire Departments Bomb, Arson and Hazmat Special Units. Complete with classrooms, offices, conference areas and reception space, the Complex features a gymnasium, indoor firing range and outdoor training concourse.
Renovations included roof replacement, a new HVAC system and a remodeled indoor Naval Training water tank for HAZMAT hazardous materials. In addition, the scope included a technology retrofit, fire sprinkler upgrade, and freshly paved areas and landscaping which helped create a neighborhood feel for the city’s police and fire department’s prominent divisions. The service center also houses the city’s recreation department offices, complete with an adjacent youth center, computer lab, artistic room, and meeting space.
